Description
Logan Street in the Hill District, a narrow, steep and winding cobblestone street that went down to Fifth Avenue. It was a busy, crowded street, jammed with shops. I remember Rose Coffey's, Shulman's, Charlie Klein's, Rubin's, Gelman's among others, and lots of saloons. I used to get off the street car on Fifth Avenue and zig zag up Logan Street from one side of the street to the other, because my mother wanted me to avoid walking in front of the saloons.
