Description
In the beginning of the World War II people were asked to donate blood to the Red Cross and to buy bonds to support the war effort. As you can see on the painting, there are signs to buy bonds and to donate blood at the parade. It was a very patriotic time. There were parades on Fifth Avenue near Logan Street and my parents used to take my brother and I to see it.

You really get the feel of the WW2 days as the soldiers and tanks paraded past us-cheering on Fith Avenue past Logan Street
